A proposito della storia della Jezabel della Bibbia, intendevo "terribile", perch quella era una donna malvagia che ebbe una brutta fine.
Infatti, la Jezabel (o Gezabele) della Bibbia era la regina di Israele, moglie del re Acab (siamo nell'800 avanti Cristo circa). Invece di adorare Dio, ador Baal, la divinit malvagia che proclamava sacrifici umani e altre cose simili (infatti il nome "Jezabel" contiene il nome di "Baal"). Inoltre, convinse anche il marito Acab ad adorare Baal, e costrinse tutto Israele ad adorare Baal. Le crudelt del re e della regina furono leggendarie. Nonostante i richiami di Dio, non si convertirono e alla fine furono puniti: Acab mor in battaglia e il suo trono fu preso da Ieu, che gett Gezabele dal balcone. La donna mor sul colpo e il suo corpo fu dato in pasto ai cani. Come ho detto, una storia terribile... |
