Hem, winter in my region ? Not -24°, sure, but at least -10° or -15°, with much snow (10-15 cm on average last winter) and much ice...

No, not so cold, indeed.. where I live it can be very very foggy, and this prevents very low temperatures.. in can go under zero, but just a few degress, usually.. about snow: it depends from year to year..

God -28°C^^ LOL^^

Temperature felt with the wind factor and the humidity: -44...

It was a day that it was recommended not to go out outside...
If there was obligation to go out, it was necessary to be very well covered, to protected well the face and not to stay for a long time outside.

Here usually, in January is the coldest month, in February a soft and rainy month and March the month of snowstorms.

ah ! And snow ? Hundreds of centimeters. ;)

Three years ago, there had been a record of snow fallen during all winter: more than 600 cm. The city did not know any more where to put the snow, the deposits of snow were full ! :rotfl:

Who wants to come to Quebec for winter ? :onion1:

Euh...I pass my turn :via: even if I live in a region where we know snow and ice, we don't have it so much...all I have to say is "bon courage", you have all my admiration to live in such difficult conditions ;)

perharps difficult conditions for you, but not for us the "Quebecois", and surely not for me ! :rotfl:

I'm Amerindian, it's my country, my place, my land, land of my ancestors :)

We appreciate our nature, we know it, it's a part of us. Montagnais means mountains' people ! :D

I can understand that, I'm proud of my land too. My ancestors are in Lorraine since the 17th century (perhaps earlier) and I love my region. And, even if the Vosges mountains are probably more little than your mountains, we are proud to be "vosgiens". I'm not living anymore in the Vosges, but the Moselle is in the same region ;)

About winter, I found some photos of winter 2010 in Metz. Surely you'll find the conditions easy, but all the city was paralyzed ! :inchia:

Warm weather is still here, but early mornings and evenings are starting to get nippy.
Anyway our winters are mild, we do get a little snow but generally so little it doesn’t settle and at the most in a couple of days it’s gone and comes back the next year.
It’s good for me, though I’m half English and somewhere in me there should be good resistance to cold :via: ….I love warm Mediterranean weather

great pictures, Runky ! :)

-------------------------

It seems that "l'été des Indiens" comes today and for this holiday weekend (It's Canada's Thanksgiving on Monday).

What is "l'été des indiens" ?

The French expression is a translation of English "Indian summer" which began to be used in Pennsylvania (USA) at the end of the 18th century.

The naming of "the Indians" would ensue from the fact that the Amerindians took advantage of this autumnal rise in temperature to prepare their houses to face the rigors of the winter.

In Quebec, the nomad's Amerindians changed fields during this period go far in the North's territories for hunting away in forest (Abitibi, Haute-Mauricie, Côte-Nord).

This phenomenon is unpredictable and can occur in all the regions of the north hemisphere, but sometimes it can not have summer Indians.

"L'été des Indiens" (Indian summer) is a rise of the temperatures after the first frost (gel) on the ground. There should be a temperature higher than normal seasonal during 3 in 4 consecutive days, and few or no rain, thus very sunny days.

Do you have this kind of phenomenon somewhere in Italy ?
