I have no information that Katsuta is a fan of Abashiri Ikka or not.

The illustration that you show is appeared in a original novel, "Super Robot Wars", written by Tatuhiko Dan(団龍彦). The novel was published in three volumes. Ken Ishikawa illustrated these three books.
The illustration, half Grendizer, is appeared in volume 2, pp.238-239.

In this story, a direct descendant of Duke Fleed was robbed Grendizer. Grendizer put on armor and appear in the form of a enemy character, Gyarahan(ギャラハン)。
Koji Kabuto , Tetuya Turugi and Getter Robot team do time warp. Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger fight Gyarahan, and break its armor. They find Grendizer under its armor...

The father of Seiji and Junpei.
He calls himself a master of any martial arts. He put Japanese ninja costume and fight evenly Panther Crow.
He has wonderful technique for a cross-type throwing knife. Sometimes he helps Honey out of crisis.
He and his two sons scrambled for Honey. He is a funny and optimistic father.
At the beginning, his appearance in Cutie Honey is regarded as Abasiri Daemon appears as a guest. He is becoming popular more and more, and finally he and Junpei come on Grendizer.

I know that the funclub made parody episodes as a slide animation. I do not see it. But, I know the story of "a vow of the red setting sun(赤い夕日の誓い, akai yuuhi no tikai)"
