@ Aramis CB: Basically,we're trying to understand what video source Imavision used for their Canadian edition. Toei did a first remaster from their source back in 2003,when they released the DVD edition for Japanese market. Then, d/visual did a second remaster back in 2005 for the Italian edition. In 2009,while the release of single DVDs was still running, they revelead they did a "special" remaster for Episode 40 exclusively for their Special Edition. A former d/visual employee who were used to join some forums told us the work he did to "recreate" and polish some frames, ruined by some "blood or coffee stains" on the original cels or impressed on the negative reel.
This episode was titled "Le Réveil des volcans" (French edition) and "Il mare è in fiamme" (Italian edition). Those stains are on every edition : original japanese TV broadcast, original French and Italian TV broadcast, even on the Japanese DVD release,as you can see here:
Video(this is a Jap DVD rip with Italian '78 dub,so the source is TOEI '03 first remaster)
Look at 1.50" : several stains appears for about a minute!
This little issue was restored on d/visual "Special Edition" : they cleaned up every frame with a good restoration process, everything did by human hands and frame by frame.
What I'm asking to you is if you can check the Episode 40 of your edition and see if those stains are there or not. If they are,Imavision used TOEI 2003 remaster. If they aren't,Imavision used d/visual video source (restored).
That's what I'm curious about.
Oh,the second question is about subtitles: does your edition has it? Are they closer to the original japanese version (Actarus=Daisuke,Procion=Umon,Venusia=Hikaru ,etc) ?
What about the 3 episodes w/Japanese dub on the bonus disc? (are they subtitled?)
Thanks for your attention and excuse me for my not-so-good English....I hope you understand now!
